a good place for repair and maintenance, lifting in and out (up to 8 meters broad) and overwintering in general. All for very attractive prices (prices for overwintering a catamaran is more than half cheaper compared with the rest of Spain/Portugal). Beside that it is a not to big familyrun wharf/marina where the owner and his son are making you feel at home, are professional (sailors themselfes)

Dear Mr. Mark Fishbeck,

Last summer we hopped along the coast from Amsterdam to the Spanish Ria’`s with our catamaran Víthaca. A delightful journey lasting for about three month.

Of course we used the Reeds Almanac during this trip many times.

  • One remark in general. As the interest in catamarans is rising worldwide, it might be useful to mention locations where they can be lifted out of the water. All though travel-lifts are used to many tonnes, they are often to narrow to take out/in a catamaran. By this there are only few places which are good enough to take your cat to. Mentioning the width/beam of travel lifts might be very useful.
  • An update about Ila de Arousa in Ria de Arousa, Spain: Porto o Xufre. In the east corner of the `porto` there is a new dry marina called `Varadoiro do Xufre`. To our experience it is a good place for repair and maintenance, lifting in and out (up to 8 meters broad) and overwintering in general. All for very attractive prices (prices for overwintering a catamaran is more than half cheaper compared with the rest of Spain/Portugal). Beside that it is a not to big familyrun wharf/marina where the owner and his son are making you feel at home, are professional (sailors themselfes) and don’t mind to take you to whatever shop or train station in the neighborhood for free. They don’t have a `wet` marina, except 3 moorings. Owner’s English is good.

If you ’ld like some more information, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes,
